China’s Xi Says Is Willing To Cooperate With The US

Chinese President Xi Jinping said China is willing to cooperate with the US and to work together to respond to global challenges.

Xi would have delivered a letter at the annual dinner of the National Committee on US-China Relations in New York, saying that the relation between the countries would be crucial for the world. He called for more stable bilateral ties and a peaceful coexistence.

Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi is set to visit Washington this week, and it will be the highest-level encounter in person between the two countries before an expected meeting between Biden and Xi in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation hosted in San Francisco next month.

“The China-US relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world, and the subnational cooperation is an indispensable part to facilitate the sound and steady growth of China-US relations. I am sure your week-long trip will inject positive energy to the development of the China-US relationship,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom said.

Tensions between the US and China have been on the rise after a spy balloon was shot down in January and amid disagreements over Taiwan and the South China Sea.

Now with global conflicts such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas war, both countries have agreed that, despite their approaches, they are seeking to avoid further escalations.
