Aid Package For Ukraine Is Passed By House of Representatives

Ukraine will receive the $40 billion package of aid from the United States after the House of Representatives voted to approve the plan on May 10th.

After four months of deliberation, the $40 billion aid package that represents 1% of the federal budget has been approved by the House of Representatives with a majority of votes, 368 voted in favor and 57 against.

The bill will now be discussed in the Senate and later signed into law by the president. The initiative was requested by president Joe Biden and had bipartisan support

The aid package will be partitioned into arms and humanitarian aid. This system was first used in World War two to help the allies fight Nazi Germany according to BBC News.

The passed bill confirms that the armed conflict will, unfortunately, keep going for a while, “We assess President Putin is preparing for a prolonged conflict in Ukraine during which he still intends to achieve goals beyond the Donbas,” said the Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines at a hearing on Capitol Hill.

Presidente Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the House of Representatives and Joe Biden for the help. The package, he said, will contribute to Ukraine’s defense.
