Candidate For Fort Bend ISD Board Flagged For Insensitive Tweets

David Hamilton, a candidate for a Fort Bend ISD trustee position has been flagged as “racist and offensive” for several insensitive comments and memes he posted on his social media.

On Tuesday, parents within the school district voiced their concerns.

Anna Lykoudis-Zafaris, parent of two students in Fort bend ISD that are in special ed, said she found Hamilton’s social media posts, racist, divisive and extreme for someone that wants to represent one of the most diverse school districts in the state, as reported by Click2Houston.

“It wasn’t just one tweet. It was a repeated pattern,” said Lykoudis-Zafaris.“It seems very hateful, very divisive, painful, words like retarded are being used by this candidate who should know better.”

State Rep. Ron Reynolds of District 27, who has children in the district, was also distrubed by Hamilton’s posts.

“Mr. Hamilton’s comments have been racially insensitive towards African Americans, Hispanics and Asians,” said Reynolds “He had denigrated students that are LGBTQ, he’s denigrated Democrats and the Biden Administration.”

A spokesperson for Hamilton’s campaign said the allegations were set up by Rep. Reynolds and other opponents. Also claiming some of the tweets were a result of Hamilton’s twitter being hacked.

Later on, Hamilton’s campaign issued a statement that says “the campaign can not confirm the authenticity of those tweets or statements.” It ended saying: “David is committed to equality and justice for all people.”
