Making Fort Bend County proud, Richard Embrick is a finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards “leadership” category.
In 2013 Embrick, a STEM teacher at Richmond’s David Crockett Middle School, opened the first STEM classroom in the school with no funding. In 2017, he was the recipient of the 2017 H-E-B Education in Excellence “Rising Star” award. And to date, he has won more than 20 grants totaling $115,000 to support the district’s program, according to The Houston Chronicle.
He is also one of the 79 teachers across the nation to receive an Outstanding Teacher for Project Lead The Way.
“I am going to Austin (at the end of April) for the ‘leadership’ award for the 20th anniversary of the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards alongside some of the most passionate and amazing teachers in Texas,” Embrick said.
Embrick will be competing for $10,000 for his classroom and $10,000 for himself in the “leadership” category.
The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards honor was created in 2002 to honor exceptional public school professionals.
Nominations and applications for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards are closed for 2022. Nominations for 2023 will open in May 2022, as reported by The Houston Chronicle.
