Police Investigate Shooting Near Elementary School In Fort Bend County

Townewest Elementary went into lockdown after reports of a shooting near the Fort Bend County school that ended with the death of a man. Fort Bend ISD officials continue to investigate since there are no clear suspects yet.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office posted this update on Twitter:

Police forces stated that Townewest Ed. was the only nearby school affected, which is why they were notified in time to get the facilities into lockdown. The shooting happened a few blocks away, at the intersection of Highway 6 and Bellfort. 

The case is still under investigation and there are no further reports of information regarding the culprit, who ran from the scene and was able to escape the police.
